Found WWII item in Riverside CA ………..?

Homeless person handed me a small leather pouch with snap containing a metal St. Christopher’s cross and a plastic SC cross, the latter on a handwoven string necklace. In the pouch is a note written long ago (per appearance) that says: “John’s Given to him by a priest during W.W. II (while captured)” On outside of leather pouch are initials J.C. carved in. Anyone know a resource I can contact to see if an organization traces these kinds of things back to a family?
